About Homeopathy
Practised and proven for over 200 years, homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine which helps the body re-establish health by stimulating it’s innate healing potential.

Homeopathic remedies are prescribed according to the law of similars, or “like cures like”, which means that the symptoms which may be caused by a substance may also be cured by that substance.

Since homeopathy considers that symptoms are the body’s way of expressing a deeper, internal imbalance, the homeopath attaches importance to all the symptoms - mental, emotional and physical.

After careful assessment of all these symptoms, the homeopath selects a remedy which is most similar to them all and will have a curative effect on the whole person.

Remedies are derived from a wide range of sources, including plants, animals, minerals and metals. They are not tested on animals. They are prescribed in minute doses, which maximize their health-enhancing effects and render them safe and non-toxic. They will not interfere with other medications.

Homeopathy can be effective in a wide range of health problems, including first aid (eg: bruises, sprains, strains, fractures, burns), acute illnesses (eg: colds, flu, food poisoning, infections, inflammation, abscesses, boils), and all manner of chronic conditions (eg: allergies, asthma, arthritis, digestive problems, skin problems, anxiety, insomnia, depression). It can be especially helpful for PMS, menstrual problems and menopause. Other situations in which homeopathy may be useful include: discomfort following dental, surgical or medical procedures; performance-related anxiety, such as exam nerves; ADHD; ailments following vaccination; grief; fear, and phobias. Homeopathy may be palliative in advanced stages of pathology.

It is safe for people of all ages, including babies and children, and may also be used for animals.

The Homeopathic Consultation

The initial consultation lasts about 2 - 2½ hours, during which we will talk about yourself, your health complaints, and your life history, as this will help me to understand you as an individual and the unique way in which you react to situations and experience your health complaints.

Once I have reviewed all the information which you have provided I will prescribe a remedy which will most reflect your situation: this usually takes a few days.

We will have follow-up consultations, which last about an hour, about 4-6 weeks after you have taken the remedy each time, to evaluate how you are doing. Depending on the effect of the remedy, the dose may be changed or another remedy prescribed. We may also touch base briefly over the telephone during the time between consultations.

The length of the treatment will depend on many factors, such as how long you have been ill and the severity of your complaints, so it isn't possible to predict how long alleviation or recovery will take.

Response to remedies can be very subtle and often an overall sense of wellbeing is experienced.
